Post ELL withdrawal

Even though the ELL is over, I just had to share some success I had later last night --

I did succeed in cleaning up the problem with IE that prevented me from using it to download the OverDrive console software.

I did succeed in downloading said OverDrive software AND an eaudiobook (the first title by Lemony Snicket) -- it took a looooong time to download, and I haven't found my portable audio device to test my skills at file transfer, so I haven't started listening to it yet, but that will come...

I did also succeed in downloading the Adobe Digital Editions (after reading all the fine print about how Acrobat 8 and 9 won't allow file transfer to a portable device, while Acrobat 6 and 7 will, but if you use Acrobat a lot, you've probably already upgraded to something newer than Acrobat 6, which isn't available for download anymore, so you can't go back, etc. etc. my goodness why does this have to be so complicated???!!!??) and downloaded a nice short children's picture book (in hopes that it wouldn't take too long to download, but nooo, it took almost as long as Lemony Snicket!) which was really beautiful to look at, but I can't imagine a child actually reading this on the computer screen

I did succeed in getting rid of my twitter posts cluttering up my blog, and "unshared" some of the things I had shared earlier from my Google Reader, so it would be fresh on my blog.

I also succeeded in finding out that Hennepin County Library does offer library services, including materials delivery, to "At Home" patrons by mail or by volunteer delivery, and they even have a special newsletter for these patrons.

I also learned that my daughter had deleted her Myspace account, but still had a presence on Facebook, through which she communicates with her brother who is away at school in the North Woods of Wisconsin. She didn't know anything about twitter, either.

So, back to the lab for the desktop publishing class I'm taking at Oakton!
