Thing #22

Well I was all excited about trying my first downloaded ebook from our MyMediaMall, and tried to download the Overdrive console -- but it has to be done using IE, and I haven't been able to use IE since an earlier download got corrupted. So I can't do this using Firefox. But I will clean up IE and try again. Some of the eaudiobooks that I'd like to listen to are anything by David Sedaris, and I'm happy to see we've got a lot.

Meanwhile, I think the set-up for this might be pretty daunting to certain people. I think there are probably lots of folks who might be comfortable using electronic library materials, but couldn't set it up themselves. It looks so complicated! And if you can't download on the library's compuers, and you can't download direct to your device while in the library, who are you going to ask for real-time help? What could we do to provide this service to people who walk in with one of the known compatible devices, and would like to check out a MyMediaMall title right in the library because they don't have a computer at home, or can't jump through all the hoops required for set-up?

If I can get this to work on my PC at home, then I'll try to put things on a little MP3 player which I've only ever used to listen to the TV audio at the gym before now. Since I don't have an iPod, at least I'm spared THAT headache!
